Born in 2004, it quickly established itself as a polarizing event for producers, professionals, and consumers, and is now recognized as Portugal's main wine experience, holding three editions annually — in Porto, Lisbon, and Madeira — and an unmissable landmark on the European events calendar.

Integrated within Wine & Travel Week, a week that positions Portugal as the epicenter of global wine tourism, Essência do Vinho – Porto surprises with its four days dedicated to the world of wine, bringing together approximately 400 national and international producers, and over 4,000 wines for free tasting at the majestic Palácio da Bolsa, a 19th-century historical building located in the heart of Porto's historic center and recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage site since 1996.

It is also notable for hosting the "Revista de Vinhos TOP 10 Portuguese Wines" competition, which gathers a panel of wine experts from around the world, and for its Guided Tastings with the leading figures in the wine world.
